Due to the general opinion that international air transportation is "expensive" compared to the cost of delivery by other modes of transport, customers rarely turn to the services of air cargo carriers — for example, when time is a critical factor. It is believed that it is more profitable to transport expensive, but small in volume and weight cargo by plane. Nevertheless, the cost of international air transportation can not only be comparable in cost with delivery, for example, by a prefabricated container, but it will also be noticeably faster in time.

It is advisable to transport goods by air in situations:
• if the cargo is expensive, and it is important for the cargo owner to control the delivery process until the moment of receipt and clearly understand where the cargo is at each moment of time;
• if it is necessary to deliver the goods urgently or "deliver on time";
• if the cargo needs to be delivered to regions that are difficult to access for other modes of transport, for example, if there are no other transportation options except by air due to geographical reasons.
